The Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust makes grants to support charities and churches in Kent. The Trust aims to improve the quality of life of local people by funding community projects that tackle poverty and social exclusion. It also supports the sustainability of local churches.
Supporting Communities in Kent
Kent is a large and diverse county characterised by areas of affluence and pockets of deprivation. The Trustees keep local needs under regular review and consider the work of other Kent funders to ensure that their grants are targeted where they can have the greatest impact. With this in mind the Trustees have decided to focus their grants on the following six programme areas:
1. Safer communities
2. Protecting and supporting older vulnerable people
3. Refugees and asylum seekers
4. Caring for carers
5. Transition to independence for young people leaving care
6. Encouraging active living

Supporting Churches in Kent
The Trust has supported churches in Kent for over thirty years. The Trustees are aware that churches in Kent are not only important local landmarks but also essential community resources atthe heart of many villages. Dwindling congregation numbers means that it is increasingly difficult for parishes to raise the funds to maintain church buildings. This programme will make grants to support the fabric and maintenance of churches in Kent, improve and re-order church buildings and where possible encourage their sustainability.
